Bisphenol-A Alters Mice DNA

April 11, 2007

Bisphenol-A exposure to mice mothers has been found to increase chromosomal abnormalities in mice children and grandchildren from an incidence of less than 1% to over 40%.

BPA is frequently used “as a plastic coating for children’s teeth to prevent cavities, as a coating in metal cans to prevent the metal from contact with food contents, as the plastic in food containers, refrigerator shelving, baby bottles, water bottles, returnable containers for juice, milk and water, micro-wave ovenware and eating utensils.”

Our Stolen Future outlines the study.

BPA has also been found to cause breast cancer and prostate cancer in rats and has been linked to recurrent miscarriages in humans.
